Battle Mountain is a mining region in Lander County Nevada.
Blue Gem is one of the most known and well-loved turquoise for many generations.
The mining began around 1934 and it closed in the 70s.
It is a rare privilege to own natural turquoise, from any mine in the rough today.
On rare occasions, private collectors open their treasures to the market.

*10% of all turquoise on the market today is Natural turquoise.
1% of that is high Gem grade turquoise. The most expensive to collect and the most rare.
*90% of the turquoise on the market in rough and jewelry today, is stabilized, treated or color enhanced.
Due to the closing of most American turquoise mines over the last several decades, natural turquoise that is
naturally hard, is sold to collectors for high end pieces or collecting and are not seen on the market again.
*Stabilized turquoise is chemically hardened to cut and polish, otherwise it would crumble and look dull.
*Color enhanced is turquoise chemically treated with added color to enhance its beauty. A good example
would be Sonoran Gold Turquoise. I absolutely love the blue green vivid beauty, yet it is not natural.
All American turquoise tends to be expensive today due to its overall rarity. Even stabilized turquoise.
A good example would be Kingman, as it is the only active large turquoise mine here now.
Kingman does sell natural as well, but it too is expensive and rare.
Natural turquoise from closed mines in the United States, is a rare treat that will be expensive.
The price rises every year, making it more difficult to own.
The price will range by the mine, how many decades it has been closed as well as the grade of the
rough you may be fortunate enough to find in your lifetime.

Custom and personalized orders
We are happy to create something for you. We have an extensive collection Vintage American turquoise from mines such as, Kingman, Royston, Morenci, Bisbee, Ithica Peak, Stormy Mountain, Number8, Damele. And my favorite, Sonora Sunrise. We work mainly with Sterling but are open to new things. Don't hesitate to contact us and we can discuss the stone and design you are interested in. You may custom chose your turquoise.
Sizing details
Most jewelry can be customized in some ways. New pieces can be designed and made per your size needs. Please contact us with any questions.
Care instructions
All Turquoise and most semi precious stones should be kept dry and not stored in sunny places. Natural untreated Stones can change color due to chemical exposure such as shamoo, soap, lotions ect. so make a habbit of removing your jewelry before using these things. Exposure to excessive heat and sunlight can cause fading so try not to store your stones in the sunlight.
Most American turquoise is backed, this is for the protection of the stone, it gives it a little impact resistance, rings and bracelets do take alot of bumping around. Some stones we will only set in Pendants as they do not take the abuse rings and bracelets sometimes see. There are many sterling cleaners on the market, we would be more than happy to polish for you.
Gift wrapping and packaging
Jewelry items are packed in jewelry boxing and ready to gift. Gift wrapping is available at an additional $4 charge. Just leave in the notes that it is a gift or send a message with your wishes and we will do our best to make it perfect.
Cabochons will be wrapped in bubble wrap and boxed securely for safe shipping.
