Rare old stock turquoise from Battle Mountain district, Lander County, Nevada
This mine began production in 1934 as the Blue Gem and produced
some of the hardest natural turquoise on the market, even today.
Battle Mountain turquoise is still highly collected in the market today.
It is prized by collectors for its natrual, hard, glassy shine.
The mine has been closed for turquoise production for decades.
The turquoise rough that came out has long since been depleted,
and only found in private collections.
The mine produced everything from gemmy blue to Emerald green
and every shade in between. This is a highly coveted Blue and green in one stone.
We were blessed with this turquoise in 2022, when we came across a bucket of
rough turquoise, always a blessing no matter where it came from.
Once it was home, and we looked at it, we realized what we had.
38 pounds of unattainable turquoise.
Natural turquoise makes up about 10% of all turquoise on the market today.
It is rare. Then you have naturally hard and gemmy turquoise, which is about .10% of the turquoise on the market today.
We cut 2 dozen stones to set in jewelry and deposited the stones for storage.
This is one of the natural Battle Mountain turquoise cabochons set in Sterling silver
hung on a simple round bale that will slide over a necklace up to 8.5mm.
To hang from your favorite Pearls or turquoise necklace.
Stone: 42x23 mm
Handcut and set by Marvin and Sondra Boone of Boone Silversmith.

We are happy to create something for you. We have an extensive collection Vintage American turquoise from mines such as, Kingman, Royston, Morenci, Bisbee, Ithica Peak, Stormy Mountain, Number8, Damele. And my favorite, Sonora Sunrise. We work mainly with Sterling but are open to new things. Don't hesitate to contact us and we can discuss the stone and design you are interested in. You may custom chose your turquoise.
Most jewelry can be customized in some ways. New pieces can be designed and made per your size needs. Please contact us with any questions.
All Turquoise and most semi precious stones should be kept dry and not stored in sunny places. Natural untreated Stones can change color due to chemical exposure such as shamoo, soap, lotions ect. so make a habbit of removing your jewelry before using these things. Exposure to excessive heat and sunlight can cause fading so try not to store your stones in the sunlight.
Most American turquoise is backed, this is for the protection of the stone, it gives it a little impact resistance, rings and bracelets do take alot of bumping around. Some stones we will only set in Pendants as they do not take the abuse rings and bracelets sometimes see. There are many sterling cleaners on the market, we would be more than happy to polish for you.
